nRF91 Overview

What is the nRF91?

The nRF9160 is Nordic Semiconductor's first foray into the world of cellular communication. It is a cellular module (a 'System in Package' or 'SIP') that includes:

• Cat M1 and NB-IoT capable modem
• Multiplex GPS capability (can use GPS when not using the modem)
• Dual Cortex M33 cores
• Peripherals such as a 12-bit ADC, RTC, SPI, I²C, I²S, UARTE, PDM and PWM.

Terminology

• nRF91 Development Board
  • A PCB with a module soldered to it, often with breakout headers to allow easy access to the pins.
